MTB 201: Intro to Technical Riding

In this class riders will learn the foundations to be confident on Blue trails.  We’ll work on skills & drills in a safe and fun environment to improve your execution and timing of the more complex skills in mountain biking like cornering, wheel lifts, navigating technical terrain and so much more. 

Skills covered:

  • Bike Set-up

  • Body position for technical riding

  • Braking skills for higher speeds and variable surfaces 

  • Early exit off elevated features or when there is exposure

  • Climbing and descending skills for blue-level trails

  • Techniques for finding balance and control on off-road surfaces that may be loose, bumpy, or muddy. 

  • Riding bridges 24” wide

Details:

  • Prerequisites for this class: 

    • A desire to grow and refine your riding skills 

    • MTB 102 or the ability to perform the skills listed in MTB 101 & 102 

    • You can ride most or all of the green-rated trails you encounter

  • Duration: 3 hrs

  • Cost: $145 

  • Location: Ouray County (exact meeting location TBD) 

  • Class size:  2-6 students
